86' HONDA CITY CABRIOLET
In 1989, I got this cabriolet second hand (It's 1986 model). I left it at my parent's house for about 10 years and got it back in 2007 when I bought land and house. This is a record of repairs and modifications since that time.
43. Torque rod insulator replace
The torque rod insulator became thin, and when I stepped on the accelerator and released it, I heard a sound ("ton", "con"?), And I found a new genuine part, so I replaced it.
When the piping related to the intercooler was removed, the front side could be easily removed, but the tool could not be inserted into the back side and the bolt could not be turned.
I was able to connect a long ratchet wrench to the head of the bolt, so managed to turn the bolt. However, the head of the bolt hits the rubber hose on the side and cannot be pulled out!
There was no choice, so I moved the position of the hose band, turned the front of the torque rod upward and tilted it, angled the direction in which the bolt came out, applied lubricant to the contact surface of the hose, and pulled it out by force.
I pulled out the rubber insulator from the rod, I remembared that I added a protective tube of the intercooler pipe to the big one in front side when the same symptom appeared before. Compared to the new one, it was obviously thinner, so I replaced it. On the other hand, the smaller one in the back side was more solid and I wasn't thin, so I decided to use it as it is.
