New wheels and tires! Finally, I found wheels with the design and specifications I wanted, so I bought them on Yahoo! Auctions, but they weren't in very good condition, so after checking that they could be fitted, they were left alone for a while, and once I decided to enter SCN like last year, I started working towards that day.
The rim had apparently been polished, but there were still faint spots of dullness from corrosion here and there, so I polished those up as much as possible, and planned to either paint the front of the spokes myself, or ask a professional to do it if there were any good shop.In any case, I decided to tackle the backs of the spokes first, so I removed as much of the corroded paint as possible and painted it silver.
The tire rim guard is useless, but it looks well.
I think this wheel size is well balanced for the City's body size.
The front (top picture) protrudes almost flush with the edge of the fender, and since the ears of the rear fender have been cut, this is the limit.
The stickers, bullet-shaped nuts, and mirror-type center caps add to the sparkle.
A comparison between the 165/45R16 (φ555mm) tires I had been using and the 165/50R15 (φ546mm).
Wheels and tires are ready.I think the shape of the tire's sidewalls is very good.
Since the rim is wider than the tire, we use a special tool to blow air into it to raise the bead.
Once the painting was complete, the next step was to decorate it with reflective and mirror stickers.
It's a place you can't see, but it's pretty clean.
I used a wire brush to remove as much corrosion as possible and painted it silver.
The rear looked like this, with extensive corrosion and the paint peeling off in places.
I removed the rear suspension coilovers and installed the wheel to check the fit and cut out a section of the inside rear fender.
