169. Pumpkin lamp update
I updated the pumpkin lamp (Jack-o'-lantern) that was used as a high-mount position and stop lamp. I moved the bulb up, transplanted the cut off bark into the previously used hole to seal it, extended the wiring and it worked.
The light bulb used is a double orange and red bulb, which is unusual. It is linked to the position lamp and normally lights up orange, but is wired so that it changes to red when the brake is applied using a relay.
It's nice because you can no longer see the light bulb directly.
The wiring was extended and the bulb socket was fixed into the newly installed upper hole.
The colors don't match, but I covered up the connections by painting them with a brush.
It's hard to see because it's transparent, but it's fixed all the way around and also seals the small holes.
Take the cut skin and place it back into the hole, temporarily secure it with masking tape, and then fix it in place with BONDIC (a UV-curable liquid plastic).
Use clear tape to trace the original hole shape with a pen, then reposition it in the new location and carefully cut along the line.
The paint around the socket has worn off after years of use. The small hole in the upper left corner was made so that the light could be seen through the rearview mirror.
Extend the wiring to connect to the vehicle side line.
I got a universal double line socket and drilled a hole so that I could insert it and turn it to secure it in place.
