36. Mobile phone holder base
With the replacement of the audio head unit, we created a base for a mobile phone holder using an aluminum plate. After considering how to fix the board and its shape, I cut out a sticker sheet, pasted it on the aluminum board, and used it as a guide to cut with a scroll saw.
Due to strength and visibility issues, it was remade many times, and finally, it was completed by changing from the right position to the left position. This is strong enough and has good visibility.
You can also check the audio head unit displays.
It looks simple and the cable management is good.
There are no problems with the strength of the base or visibility.
It overlapped a little with the head unit's control knob, so I moved it further to the left to complete it.
So I rearranged it symmetrically and moved the fixed position to the left.
I tried lowering the ball joint mounting position, but my smartphone still hit the wiper lever.
By extending and fixing the support plate from the center, sufficient strength was obtained. However, the position when setting the smartphone is not good.
The first prototype is on the left, and the next model shape is on the right.
I cut the aluminum plate again to shorten the distance from the base to the fixed position of the holder.
I added a plate to the left side to give it more strength in the left and right direction, but it's still weak.
The position of the holder itself doesn't look bad, but when you put your smartphone in it, it hits the wiper lever, making it difficult to see the speedometer.
Since the opening accommodates 2DIN wide size, there are spacers on the left and right to fill the gap, so I used them to secure the board.
Cut out a shape using a sticker sheet, paste it on an aluminum plate, and use it as a guide to cut the board with a scroll saw.
I photographed the head unit from the side, measured the fixed angle, and considered the shape of the plate to match that angle.
