38. Center cap custom
I like the steel wheels, but I wanted to hide the hub nuts and hub bolts. So, I tried looking for a general-purpose center cap that could be installed, but I couldn't find one.I didn't like the shape of the genuine product, so I decided to use a genuine product from another manufacturer.
It is a genuine MAZDA product, so I removed the M mark on the surface, painted it silver, and completed it with a mirror sticker. It goes well with cap nuts and has a nice appearance.
Cover the outer periphery with masking tape to prevent damage.
I used a sander, sandpaper, and a sponge block file to sand it down.
Paint and polish several times to prepare the base.
Painted with plating spray. I thought it was plated, but it's actually silver.
Paste the cut out mirror sticker. When pasting, apply an ultra-thin neutral detergent solution to the adhesive surface so that you can adjust the positioning. Until the neutral detergent solution dries, the adhesive strength is weak and the surface is slightly swollen, causing wrinkles around it, but once it dries, the adhesive strength gradually recovers.
Take your time and apply it to the entire surface by pressing outwards a little at a time to avoid leaving any wrinkles. Although it is a three-dimensional curved surface, I was able to paste all four of them beautifully.
This is the state with only steel wheels. The hub nut is completely visible.
I installed the completed cap. I think it has a natural finish.
